So you want to know about WebJuice? How we got started? Where the idea came from? Well your in luck!

Right, so where did the idea come from? Well I won’t be hiding anything so you can find out our secrets! First of all I am a massive fans of Revision3’s podcasts. These including Diggnation, Tekzilla and the Totally Rad Show are on my iTunes podcast list.

More recently ChannelFlip.com (based here in the UK) launched in September 2007 and I took a look at their podcasts. The 2 technology ones are now our iTunes list too, Unwired and Play:Digital.

These 2 combine different ways of podcasting, ChannelFlip being short 2-3 minute shows, Revision3 being 30-60minute shows. These are also done in different styles. As ChannelFlip have short shows they need to get straight to the point and not lose focus where as Revision3 have freedom to go on the odd red herring.

Now I had the idea of a UK based podcast in the form of Revision3’s extended length shows so we can have differerent segments. By this point we knew the topic we wanted to cover. Web technology and other gems from the internet.

We could not find a podcast that does anything similar. If there was a show like it we would subscribe! But as there wasn’t one I thought I would make one!

We thought we will do this on our own. Just me doing the production, editing and hosting the show itself. I am diving into the unknown and have no budget so have looked round for bargains on microphones, mini mixers and of course camera equipment.

So I got that sorted but where should I have our set? Well Diggnation does a great job of being on a sofa. Being on a sofa isn’t copyrighted is it? Well we checked and Revision3 did not patent the sitting on a sofa podcast! But still I wanted to be original and there aren’t many places left. So the study seemed a good place!
